On the sides are four scenes from the Crucifixion. Part of the mosaic may have been designed by Melozzo from Forli, in substitution of the original ancient Roman one from the time of Emperor Valentinian III (425-455). Later also Fredcesco Zucchi (1562-1622) worked on it.
