Inside the altar are relics of the Saints Proto and Giacinto, donated to the church by Clemente VIII in 1592, and in this chapel since 1656. In 1845 archaeologist Giuseppe Marchi discovered the real burial of the saints and the remains where taken to the Collegio di Propaganda Fide. In 1881 a portion of these remains were brought back to this chapel.
