The frescoed panels in the second level were originally executed by Barna da Siena in 1369, but were repainted by Antoniazzo Romano and his school in the late 15th century. The frescoes on the nave side show The Crucifixion with Our Lady and St John the Evangelist, flanked by SS James the Less (?), Paul, Peter and Philip.
