Two pilasters with sunk panels in red marble support the entablature on each side. In between these the entablature is broken for an arch, which shelters an organ (the choir has two) standing on a corbelled balcony with yellow marble baluster pins. Two smaller balconies or cantorie for solo musicians are to the sides, and these have triangular pediments over them. All six balconies have richly carved and gilded wooden neo-Baroque screens. The side walls over the stalls of the canons are richly decorated in polychrome stonework in marble and alabaster. In the left forground is one of four Golden Roses presented to the Archbasilica by the popes.
