The enormous altarpiece is a copy by Antonio Corsi of a painting showing The Last Communion of St Jerome by Domenichino, which the saint is receiving from Pope Damasus. The original painting was looted by the French, and when returned was sent to the Pinacoteca Gallery of the Vatican where it remains.
