The portico was added by the prior Stefano [di] Stella in 13th century. It has four ancient Ionic columns on two plinths either side of the main central portal, One column is of cipollino marble from Euboea in Greece, one is grey granite from Mons Claudianus in Egypt, and two are of Parian marble also from Greece.
