Santa Maria in Aracoeli

On the pillar between this and the next chapel is the monument for Michele Antonio del Vasto, Marquis Saluzzo, who had been a distinguished General in the army of Francis I of France, and was slain at the taking of Aversa, in 1528, on his way to assist P. Clement VII, then besieged in Castel S. Angelo by the Constable Bourbon during the Sack of Rome. His bust is by Giovanni Antonio Dosio.
