The sanctuary is elevated above the nave, and is approached by two staircases running up the sides. Along the front edge of the sanctuary is an open pin balustrade, and in front of the altar the baluster pins are replaced by an interesting device of seven large gilded rings in a row over the arch into the crypt proper.
