The far wall of the left hand side arm is completely occupied by the shrine of Pope St Pius V, executed by Domenico Fontana (1588). The focus of the first storey is a large seated statue of the pope by Leonardo Sormani, in a round-headed niche with a molded archivolt in yellow Siena marble.
