The upper register dates from the restoration ordered by Pope Nicholas IV (1288-92), and was executed by Filippo Rusuti. The work was completed in 1308.
In the exposed left part of the upper register are, from right to left, the Virgin Mary, St Paul and St James the Great. Above is the symbol of an Evangelist. |
