Beneath an altar is the shrine and effigy of St Benedict Joseph Labre, who died in a house nearby in 1783. The effigy of the dying saint was executed by Achille Albacini in 1892. Benedict canonized by Pope Leo XIII in 1881, and is the patron saint of the homeless.
