To the left is the tomb of Antonio Cardinal Pallavicino (d. 1507), carved around 1510 by the workshop of Bregno. Over his recumbent statue is a relief of the Virgin and Child, which, with the other reliefs and ornamental decorations, is a good specimen of the sculpture of the Italian school of that period. He was originally buried in Old St. Peter's, but the tomb was transferred here by his grand nephews in 1596, to which date the inscription belongs.
