The tomb of Gaspare Celio is set against the second pillar of the south aisle. Celio was a Roman painter in the Baroque period who died at the age of 69 years. The epigraph claims that besides drawing and painting he excelled in poetry, mathematics, military and civil architecture. He was especially proud of being a knight of the Portuguese Order of Christ, and that he lived together with his wife, Claudia Sebastiani without marital strife for 45 years. The portrait of the deceased is work of Francesco Ragusa.
