The fourth chapel on the left is dedicated to St Teresa of Jesus, the Spanish mystic who was of a Jewish family and who, after becoming a Carmelite, promoted a reform of her Order and founded sixteen monasteries. She wrote works of the highest doctrine; in 1622 he was canonized and in 1970 declared Doctor of the Church.
