The chapel apparently contains a magnificent altar canopy supported by four columns of serpentine. This is a trompe d'oeil, being merely painted on the wall, as are the apparent stucco decorations to each side. The decorations were painted by Antonio Bicchierai.
The altar itself was made from bits of an older altar, and was constructed by Francesco Fontana in 1864. It contains fine polychrome stonework. |
