The dome was completed thirty years later than the church, probably designed by Antonio da Sangallo the Younger and was erected by Jacopo Ungarino in 1525. The shallow dome has eight wide rays each with a flaming torch in stucco, and these rays meet at an octagonal oculus. The sectors are coffered in hexagons containing the Chigi and Rovere family emblems.
