The altarpiece, representing the Beheading of St. John the Baptist in the prison, is by the Dutch painter Gerard van Honthorst, painted between 1617 and 1618 by order of Giovanni Battista Longhi, the butler of Cardinal Galli, who was buried in the chapel.
