The author of the altarpiece is unknown but it is plausible to attribute it to the school Antoniazzo Romano (1430? - 1510?). It is the icon of Our Lady of Montesanto (actually Our Lady of Mount Carmel), preserved from the former convent chapel that the church replaced. A pair of floating putti in stucco embellish it.
