Cappella Capranica
The chapel on the right hand side of the sanctuary is also known as the Chapel of the Rosary. The remains of St. Catherine of Siena, who died in 1380, were kept inside this chapel for many centuries, from 1430 to 1855. The chapel was refitted by the noted humanist and theologian Cardinal Domenico Capranica, whose memorial is here, and dedicated to the Annunciation in 1499. In 1579 the chapel was dedicated to the Madonna of the Rosary.
