The wall of the upper storey has seriously damaged and faded frescoes by Pietro Gagliardi depicting St Peter between Sts Pudenziana and Pudens. The latter is dressed as a Roman senator. On the outside of the windows are St. Gregory the Great and St. Pius I. These frescoes replaced those by Pomerancio.

On either side of the entrance are the coats-of-arms of the current Pope and the current titular cardinal.
