The aedicule of the altar is against the far wall of the apse. It has two Ionic columns of green marble supporting a split triangular pediment the fragments of which enclose two angels holding a cross. On either side of the altarpiece are two large frescoes depicting scenes from the legendary life of St Susanna by Cesare Nebbia.
