At the end of the aisle is the funeral monument of Cardinal Ausias Despuig, of Spanish origin and archbishop of Monreale. The monument is the work of Andrea Bregno and depicts the Madonna and Child, St. Catherine of Siena, St. Catherine of Alexandria, and the Four Cardinal Virtues. The monument has a particular inscription:
"UT MOIUENS VIVERET, VIXIT UT MORITUTUS"
("To live after he died, he lived as one who knows he will die").
