The altar aedicule is coved, and fits into the curve of the apse. Two pairs of ribbed Composite pilasters, one in front of the other in each pair, support the ends of a semi-circular entablature and are fronted by two free-standing columns in the same style which support strongly projecting posts at the ends of the entablature.
