Only the upper frontage of the central nave is visible over the portico. When the church was first built in the 5th century, the façade had five arched portals separated by Corinthian columns. The central one was slightly larger. This arcade was duplicated by a further one above, which is visible. The upper arcade was damaged in an earthquake perhaps in the mid 5th century, and was walled up.
