This chapel was dedicated to the Immaculate Conception, but the dedication was changed to San Francisco Solano in the 19th century. All the frescoes on the walls and ceiling form a thematic unity, in which the doctrine of the Immaculate Conception. The altarpiece shows St Francis Solano and St Bonaventure venerating Our Lady , and is by Marzio Ganassini , and dates from after the rededicaton of the chapel.
Francesco Pichi executed it all of the fresco decoration between 1551 and 1554. This is the only know work of this painter. |
