Santo Stefano is stoned
St James and 2 apostles submit to their martyrdom is the second fresco. At letter (A), Stefano is seen being stoned; at (B), the apostles being whipped (on the right); and (C), St James the Great being beheaded (on the left). The scenes are set to take place outside Jerusalem. Above the fresco is written a passage from Psalm 78,3: "Effuderunt. sanguinem. s.s. (i)n. circuitu. hierusalem".
